Barry Keoghan Joins Cillian Murphy in Peaky Blinders Movie Cast

Barry Keoghan has joined the Peaky Blinders movie cast. Per Deadline, Keoghan will star alongside Cillian Murphy in Netflix’s Peaky Blinders feature film.

Keoghan continues to amass an impressive resume of eclectic roles. The Irish actor broke out in 2017 thanks to his performances in The Killing of a Sacred Deer and Dunkirk. In 2022, Keoghan won a BAFTA and received a supporting Oscar nomination for playing Dominic Kearney in Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin.

In 2023, Keoghan starred in Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn, for which he received Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations. Earlier this year, Keoghan appeared in Apple TV+’s Masters of the Air and Andrea Arnold’s Bird, with the latter premiering at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

Who is in the Peaky Blinders Movie Cast?

Murphy will reprise his role as Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby. In July, Rebecca Ferguson joined the cast in an undisclosed role. Keoghan’s character remains under wraps, too.

Per Netflix, “The film will be an epic continuation of the multi-award-winning, six-season gangster saga. Set in Birmingham between 1919 and 1934, Peaky Blinders followed the rise (and sometimes fall) of the Shelby family as they navigated a world wracked with radical social, economic, and political change.”

Created by Steven Knight, Peaky Blinders first aired in 2013. The TV series ran for six seasons, with the most recent bowing in 2022.

Tom Harper, who helmed episodes in the first season, will direct off a script written by Knight. Caryn Mandabach, Knight, Murphy, and Guy Heeley will produce. Executive producers include Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason.

The film will stream on Netflix in association with the BBC. Production is expected to begin later this year.
