Demi Moore Reflects on Charlie’s Angels Bikini Scene 20 Years Later

Demi Moore, who starred as Madison Lee in 2003’s Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, recently reflected on her beach scene with Cameron Diaz over 20 years after the sequel arrived in theaters in 2003.

The actress shares that she felt like there “didn’t seem to be a place for [her]” in Hollywood after her bikini scene in the 2003 sequel garnered much attention, especially due to her appearance. The second McG-directed Charlie’s Angels movie served as Moore’s return to acting. She then took a break until she starred in the romantic thriller Half Light.

What did Demi Moore say about her Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle scene?

“What’s interesting is I felt [criticism] more when I hit my 40s. I had done ‘Charlie’s Angels,’ and there was a lot of conversation around this scene in a bikini, and it was all very heightened, a lot of talk about how I looked. And then I found that there didn’t seem to be a place for me. I didn’t feel like I didn’t belong. It’s more like I felt that feeling of, I’m not 20, I’m not 30, but I wasn’t yet what they perceived as a mother,” Moore told Interview magazine

She continued, “Where do I fit in? It was a time that felt, not dead, but flat . . . I don’t know if I’ve ever done that when I’ve come up against something that I don’t understand exists as a limitation.”

In addition to Moore and Diaz, who played Natalie Cook in the action comedy franchise, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle starred Drew Barrymore as Dylan Sanders and Lucy Liu as Alex Munday. Moore played the sequel’s main antagonist, a former Angel working for Charles ‘Charlie’ Townsend.

After her stint in Charlie’s Angels, Moore went on to star in a slew of features, including Flawless, The Joneses, Margin Call, Very Good Girls, Rough Night, Love Sonia, and more. She most recently starred in the body horror The Substance, set to arrive in theaters on September 20.
