Glen Powell & Edgar Wright’s Running Man Remake Gets Production Date Update

The Running Man reboot, featuring Glen Powell in the lead role, has finally received updates regarding its production. The movie was initially confirmed by Paramount Pictures in 2021, as per reports, but subsequent development on the project has been steady since then, to say the least. Now, a recent report has revealed that the movie will begin filming later this year.

Glen Powell to start filming Running Man remake in late 2024

Earlier, Glen Powell said that he would be balancing shooting the Edgar Wright-helmed The Running Man remake alongside his ongoing degree at the University of Texas. This has proven to be true as The Running Man reboot is confirmed to begin production in November 2024, as per The Wrap.

In the past, Powell hinted at his upcoming movie’s production schedule during an interview with IndieWire. In the discussion, the 35-year-old stated that he will be handling shooting and finishing his academic course simultaneously.

“I’m not going to be sitting in a class with other students on the regular. I’m basically going to be coming back because I have to finish up, but I’m going to be shooting The Running Man in the fall,” disclosed Glen Powell.

“So I’m going to be in London, but I am going to be going back for proctored exams. So, they’re letting me figure it out [with] distance learning. Edgar has been very nice about letting me finish my degree in the middle of his massive movie,” he added.

Through his statements, fans deduced that the filming process for the project could begin in the fall. Now, The Wrap’s report puts these speculations to rest.

When will Edgar Wright’s Running Man reboot come out?

At the time of writing, an official release date for The Running Man reboot has yet to be announced. Nevertheless, the November filming schedule suggests that the movie could come out sometime in 2026 if not late 2025.

The latter release window would be a poetic coincidence since Stephen King’s original novel of the same name, from which the film will be deriving its narrative, is also set in 2025.
