Alien: Romulus Director Reveals Father of Kay’s Baby

Fede Álvarez has revealed who the father of Kay’s baby is in Alien: Romulus.

Alien: Romulus was released in United States theaters on August 16, 2024. The film, directed by Álvarez, stars Cailee Spaeny as Rain, David Jonsson as Andy, Isabela Merced as Kay, and more.

Kay is pregnant in the film; however, she never verbally reveals who the father of her baby is. Rather, she merely says that some “jerk” got her pregnant when asked by another character.

Who is the father of Kay’s baby in Alien: Romulus?

On Reddit, user Noraodel questioned if Bjorn, the character played by Spike Fearn who is Kay’s cousin, was actually the father of Kay’s baby.

“Right before Bjorn’s death, he and Kay share a moment where they touch each other in a very intimate way,” the post reads. “Am I the only one who thought this was a sign that Bjorn is the ‘jerk’ who got her pregnant?”

Álvarez confirmed that this theory was accurate in a comment on the post. “Yes he is,” Álvarez wrote. “Good catch!”

The cast of the movie also includes Archie Renaux as Tyler and Aileen Wu as Navarro. Álvarez co-wrote the script alongside Rodo Sayagues, while Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, and Walter Hill served as producers. Executive producers include Álvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon, Brent O’Connor, and Tom Moran.

“Alien: Romulus takes the phenomenally successful Alien franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe,” the synopsis for the movie reads.

Alien: Romulus made approximately $42 million during its opening weekend in the United States and Canada. So far, it has grossed approximately $113.8 million at the worldwide box office off an estimated $80 million budget.

Alien: Romulus is now playing in United States theaters.
