Variety reports that Lionsgate has picked up the rights to release The Bass Master, a broad comedy about competitive bass fishing, written by Tab Murphy (The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Atlantis) and Devin Maurer that Todd Garner will produce through his shingle Broken Road Productions.
Garner, formerly with Joe Roth’s Revolution Pictures, and Matt Alvarez produced the upcoming sequel Are We Done Yet? starring Ice Cube and the Nic Cage action film Next.
After hit comedies about dodgeball and NASCAR racing and with a new one about competitive figure skating on the way, the script sale shouldn’t come as too big a surprise.
