Ryan Reynolds Shares Deadpool & Wolverine Tribute to Rob Delaney’s Late Son

Ryan Reynolds recently took to social media to share a touching tribute to the late son of his Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Rob Delaney.

What Did Ryan Reynolds Say About Rob Delaney’s Son?

In early 2018, Delaney’s two-year-old son, Henry, tragically died from a brain tumor. Reynolds’ biggest regret is not including a tribute to Henry at the end of Deadpool 2, where Rob first appeared as Peter Wisdom.

“There’s more to Rob Delaney than some realize,” Reynolds wrote in an Instagram post. “He’s one of the most subversively funny people I know. He’s a beautiful, acerbic and vulnerable writer. If you stayed through the credits of Deadpool & Wolverine, you might notice a credit saying, ‘For Henry Delaney.’ Henry is Rob’s son. And Rob lost his little boy to a brain tumor in 2018. Right as we finished Deadpool 2.”

Reynolds goes so far as to say he’s “kicked his own ass” over not including a special salute to Henry at the end of Deadpool 2. Reynolds made up for his error by including Henry’s name in the credits for Deadpool & Wolverine, so the two Delaneys could share the same screen. Reynolds ended his post with a moving testimonial about Rob.

“Rob has a vivid perspective on unimaginable grief. And he takes an unfiltered, rage-ful, loving, sad and hilarious (yes, HILARIOUS) look at grief through his book, A Heart That Works,” Reynolds wrote. “It’s an incredible piece of writing which explores the kaleidoscopic colours of emotion Henry’s passing revealed. I’m lucky to know Rob. And I’m lucky to have friends willing to put themselves on the line to make others feel less alone.”

See Delaney reprise his role as Peter in Deadpool & Wolverine, now in theaters everywhere.
