Soulm8te Cast Adds David Rysdahl to M3GAN Spin-off Movie

The Soulm8te cast continues to grow, with Deadline reporting that David Rysdahl has joined to star in the upcoming film set in the M3GAN universe.

According to Deadline’s report, Rysdahl will star opposite Lily Sullivan in the upcoming project. In the movie, Rysdahl will play a man who acquires an Artificially Intelligent android (played by Sullivan) to help him cope with the loss of his wife.

“In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, the man inadvertently turns a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate,” reads the film’s logline.

Soulm8te is being directed by Kate Dolan (You Are Not My Mother) from a script rewritten by her but originally from Rafael Jordan, based on a story from James Wan.

What do we know about the M3GAN spin-off?

Not too much is known about the upcoming movie, but it is being described as centering around the feel of “90s domestic thrillers” but with a technological twist. Kate Dolan (You Are Not My Mother) will direct the film, which is tentatively scheduled to release on January 2, 2026.

“Fundamentally, I view this film as an exploration of relationships and loneliness,” said Dolan in a statement announcing the new project. “Despite technological advances, there are enduring human truths we cannot escape, and I am looking forward to delving into those depths.”

Alongside directorial duties, Nolan also rewrote an original draft written by Rafael Jordan, while the story is being credited to James Wan, Ingrid Bisu, and Jordan.

After breaking out as a hit in 2023, a sequel to M3GAN, titled M3GAN 2.0, is currently in the works. That film will see stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw reprise their roles from the original movie and is scheduled to release on June 27, 2025.
