Mark Wahlberg has been attached to The Six Billion Dollar Man reboot movie for quite a while. It will supposedly offer a fresh take on 1973’s iconic The Six Million Dollar Man series. There’s still no release date scheduled for the project. But even if Wahlberg were offered any superhero roles in the future, he’d still choose his reboot movie over them.
Mark Wahlberg says The Six Billion Dollar Man is priority over other superhero roles
Even though The Six Billion Dollar Man isn’t currently in production, Wahlberg plans to see it come to fruition at some point. While promoting his upcoming Netflix movie, The Union, the actor was asked if his co-stars from Marvel, Halle Berry and Tom Holland, had tried recruiting him for the MCU. He replied that The Six Million Dollar Man reboot is the only superhero project he is currently focusing on.
Speaking with ComicBook.com, he jokingly said:
“You know, I have one superhero movie in mind, and it’s The Six Billion Dollar Man, formally known as The Six Million Dollar Man, gone up due to inflation.”
He provided additional information about what should be expected out of his superhero movie:
“It’s grounded, and it’s plausible, real. You know, there is lots of bionics technology, and science happening right now. So this is something that has all the wish fulfillment of a superhero, incredible things.”
Continuing to talk about playing Marvel or DC roles, he stated that he doesn’t “have to wear one of those suits.” The Arthur the King star concluded:
“I don’t have the confidence to walk around in one of those suits. Halle goes, ‘Oh you’d look great in one of those costumes,’ I go, ‘It’s not the physical appearance, it’s the mental confidence to walk out of my trailer.'”
Mark Wahlberg’s The Union hits Netflix on August 16, 2024.
