XYZ Films has officially enlisted Josh Duhamel (Transformers, Shotgun Wedding) and Lukas Gage (Dead Boy Detectives) for the leading roles in Full Throttle Mindset, described as a darkly comedic crime thriller. The film is based on Doyle Murphy’s St. Louis Riverfront Times article “The Long, Violent Fall of Tanning Mogul Todd Beckman.”
Besides Full Throttle Mindset, Duhamel will next be seen starring alongside Zachary Levi in the upcoming survival thriller Not Without Hope. Meanwhile, Gage is attached to appear in the highly-anticipated horror sequel Smile 2 and the sci-fi thriller Companion with Jack Quaid.
What is Full Throttle Mindset about?
“Described as a gonzo cautionary tale about deluded American dreams and dark mentors, the film tells the wild true story of young burnout Blake Laubinger (Gage), who’s taken under the wing of a Midwestern tanning salon mogul named Todd Beckman (Duhamel),” reads the film’s initial synopsis. “He soon learns his new mentor’s businesses are a front for a drug empire — one he’s now expected to partake in.”
Full Throttle Mindset will be directed by Patrick Brice from a screenplay by Jake Disch. The film is a production of XYZ Films, with John Baker and Robby O’Connor producing. Production is expected to begin sometime this year.
