When is the new A Complete Unknown release date?

Searchlight has officially set the new A Complete Unknown release date for December 25, 2024. The Christmas release date is often a highly sought-after spot, and usually reserved for big titles, so Searchlight clearly has some faith that the upcoming movie will be a big one.

Alongside Chalamet, A Complete Unknown also stars Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, Nick Offerman as Alan Lomax, and P.J. Byrne as Harold Leventhal. It is executive produced by Dylan along with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Andrew Rona. Jeff Rosen, who is Dylan’s longtime manager, has also signed on as a producer with Mangold, Veritas Entertainment Group’s Bob Bookman, Alan Gasmer, and Peter Jaysen, Automatik’s Fred Berger, and The Picture Company’s Alex Heineman also set to produce.

“Set in the influential New York music scene of the early 60s, the film follows 19-year-old Minnesota musician Bob Dylan’s (Chalamet) meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts — his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide sensation — culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965,” reads the synopsis.

A Complete Unknown is directed by James Mangold from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jay Cocks based on author Elijah Wald’s book titled Dylan Goes Electric. The film also stars Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, Nick Offerman as Alan Lomax, and P.J.
