Henry Cavill recently took to Instagram to comment on his surprise cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. The former Superman actor was brought in to portray an alternate variant of Wolverine in the latest MCU film. While talking about his much-discussed cameo, Cavill also seemingly threw shade at the infamous mustache fiasco that occurred during Justice League’s reshoots in 2017.

Fans were quick to catch Cavill’s reference to the 2017 debacle that occurred when he was associated with the now-defunct DC Extended Universe. The actor was recalled for Justice League reshoots in 2017 after Joss Wheadon took over the project. However, due to his commitments to 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Cavill was restricted from shaving off his mustache. Consequently, his facial hair was digitally rendered to conform to Superman’s clean-shaven image in Wheadon’s Justice League. The sub-par CGI was ultimately criticized by fans on the internet, creating a huge controversy.

The 41-year-old superstar is done with the DC universe following James Gunn’s appointment as the co-CEO of DC Studios. As such, Henry Cavill’s recent appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine has opened the door for him to join the MCU. In an interview with Variety, director Shawn Levy revealed that the actor was very enthusiastic about the cameo. Levy stated, “He said ‘yes’ right away because he knew it would be subversive and playful.”

At the time of writing, it is currently unknown if Henry Cavill has officially joined forces with Marvel following his appearance as Wolverine in Deadpool 3.
