A Hulk Hogan movie is being written by The Big Short’s Charles Randolph.
The film, which is titled Killing Gawker, is based on a 2018 novel written by Ryan Holiday titled Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker, and the Anatomy of Intrigue. It details Hogan’s lawsuit, which was financed by Peter Theil, against Gawker Media, the company that published Hogan’s sex tape online.

What else do we know about the Hulk Hogan movie?
Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider first reported that Good Will Hunting’s Gus Van Sant is directing the film; although, Deadline reports that Van Sant is only in “early talks” to helm the project.
Sneider also reports that the film will star Ben Affleck as Hogan and Matt Damon as Thiel, while Deadline says that the two of them are only involved as producers (via their Artists Equity banner) at this time. PWInsider’s article also mentions “talk” of Affleck and Damon starring in the movie, though an official announcement has not been made at this time.
Production on Killing Gawker is expected to begin in January 2025.
Along with Good Will Hunting, Van Sant is known for directing 1989’s Drugstore Cowboy, 2000’s Finding Forrester, 2003’s Elephant, 2008’s Milk, and 2012’s Promised Land, the latter of which also starred Damon (Damon additionally had a role in and co-wrote Van Sant’s Gerry movie from 2002). His latest film was 2018’s Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot starring Joaquin Phoenix and Jonah Hill.
Damon and Affleck both starred in Good Will Hunting, which is currently streaming on Max. Damon can now be seen in The Instigators alongside Casey Affleck, which is playing in select United States theaters before it comes to Apple TV+ on August 9, while Ben Affleck recently finished filming a sequel to 2016’s The Accountant.
