Spellbound Teaser Trailer Previews Star-Studded Animated Musical

Netflix has finally released the teaser trailer for Spellbound, an upcoming animated musical set to arrive on the streamer on November 22, 2024. With a star-studded voice cast — including the likes of Rachel Zegler and Nicole Kidman — Spellbound is an “original fairy tale take on a modern story.”

The upcoming animated movie brought together the creatives behind Toy Story, Shrek, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Tangled. Spellbound is directed by Vicky Jenson, with an original score by renowned composer Alan Menken. It also stars John Lithgow, Jenifer Lewis, Nathan Lane, Tituss Burgess, and Javier Bardem

What is Spellbound about?

“Spellbound follows the adventures of Ellian, the tenacious young daughter of the rulers of Lumbria who must go on a daring quest to save her family and kingdom after a mysterious spell transforms her parents into monsters,” the synopsis reads.

Featuring songs from Menken and Glenn Slater, Spellbound is written by Lauren Hynek & Elizabeth Martin, and Julia Mirandam, with John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bruce Anderson serving as the film’s producers.

“I hope that audiences will see how incredible the art of animation is when it comes to teaching tough lessons to the next generation. Spellbound handles delicate subjects with a lot of beautiful imagery, music, and an allegorical approach to real life issues that kids sometimes face,” Zegler said in a statement.

“For me, the story [of Spellbound] is even more universal than the specifics of this family dynamic. For me, it speaks to kids and their parents, to the kind of alienation that can happen as we grow up, and the steps we have to make towards each other to weather it together and come through the other side with better understanding,” the director said.

Spellbound is a Skydance Animation production.
