Gareth Evans’ Havoc Starring Tom Hardy Finally Wraps Production

Gareth Evans has announced that his Netflix action thriller, Havoc, starring Tom Hardy, has wrapped production.

Writer and director Evans posted to Instagram about the news, with a few additional details and clarification on what’s next.

”That’s a wrap on additional photography for Havoc. Massive thanks to cast and crew for their support and hard work over the past 2 weeks,” wrote Evans.

”Next up…. 5-6 months of post (editing, VFX, color, sound) so we can make everything nice and shiny and loud ready for what will hopefully be a Q1 release next year.”

But if anyone was hoping to get a proper look at Havoc anytime soon, Evans is here to (sensibly) snuff out your hopes. He’s eager to ensure our first look at Havoc will represent the final experience.

”No trailer or promo materials will be released before the film is finalized and mastered, so in a bid to temper expectations – don’t expect anything before the new year.”

What is Havoc about?

Havoc is said to take place after a drug deal gone bad and will center on a bruised detective who must navigate the criminal underworld in an attempt to rescue a politician’s estranged son. Along the way, he will unravel a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that holds the entire city in a tight grip.

Forest Whitaker (Ghost Dog), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Justin Cornwell, Jessie Mei Li (Last Night in Soho), and Yeo Yann Yann also star alongside Hardy. Further supporting cast members include Quelin Sepulveda, Luis Guzmán, Sunny Pang, and UFC mixed martial artist Michelle Waterson.

Havoc is part of a fresh deal between Netflix and Gareth Evans that began in 2021. Their previous collaboration gave us the effective action horror movie Apostle. Evans is best known for writing and directing the seminal action movie The Raid and its sequel.
