Young Woman and the Sea Disney+ Release Date Set for Daisy Ridley Sports Drama

Disney has officially announced the Young Woman and the Sea Disney+ release date, confirming when the biographical drama starring Daisy Ridley arrives to streaming.

What is the Young Woman and the Sea Disney+ release date?

Young Woman and the Sea will begin streaming on Disney+ on July 19, 2024. Inspired by the extraordinary true story of Trudy Ederle, Young Woman and the Sea is directed by Joachim Rønning from a screenplay written by Jeff Nathanson.

It is based on Glenn Stout’s novel of the same name, and stars Ridley in the lead role as Ederle.

The film also stars Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Stephen Graham, Kim Bodnia, Christopher Eccleston, and Glenn Fleshler. In addition to leading the cast, Ridley serves as an executive producer alongside Rønning and John G. Scotti. It is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Omen and Jeff Nathanson.

“The film centers around an accomplished swimmer who was born to immigrant parents in New York City in 1905,” reads the synopsis. “Through the steadfast support of her older sister and supportive trainers, she overcame adversity and the animosity of a patriarchal society to rise through the ranks of the Olympic swimming team and complete the staggering achievement — a 21-mile trek from France to England.”
