Shawn Levy Star Wars Movie Finds Its Writer

Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy will reportedly bring a familiar writer to his Star Wars movie.

The Insneider reports that Levy will look to his long-time collaborator Jonathan Tropper to pen his Star Wars movie.

The pair have worked together on projects for a decade now. These include Levy’s This Is Where I Leave You and 2022’s Netflix action movie The Adam Project. Levy was also a producer on the Netflix film Kodachrome, which Tropper wrote.

Away from levy, Tropper has an extensive TV CV. He’s the creator and showrunner of the shows Banshee Warrior and Your Friends and Neighbors. He also served as showrunner and writer on Jason Momoa’s See over at Apple.

Kathleen Kennedy wants Shawn Levy Star Wars movie to reflect director’s style

There’s currently no word on what the Shawn Levy Star Wars movies will be about, but expect it to feel like a Shawn Levy movie.

Back when he was recruited for the film, Levy told of his meeting with Kathleen Kennedy, who was eager to let him know he wouldn’t be working to a template.

”Her central mandate to me was, ’I want a Shawn Levy movie. I want a story and a tone that reflects you and your taste and what you bring to your movies — with a Star Wars story.”’ He would later say that he felt “very empowered to trust my instincts in the development of this story and movie.”

Levy will be tackling a different Disney juggernaut this month with the release of the hotly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Emma Corrin. He’s clearly popular over there, as he’s been reported as the “top choice” for the next Avengers movie.
