Exclusive Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Deleted Scene Shows Mocap Filming

ComingSoon is excited to debut a Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes deleted scene from the upcoming home release. The scene shows behind-the-scenes footage of Lightning and Sylva searching for the heroes. The sci-fi action movie will be available digitally on July 9, while the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release is on August 27.

“Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows,” reads the synopsis. “As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.”

The home release includes the following bonus features, plus the 4K version includes Inside the Lens: The Raw Cut, “a full-length alternative cut with a split-screen comparison between the final cut of the film and a version with unfinished VFX with optional audio commentary by director Wes Ball, editor Dan Zimmerman, and VFX supervisor Erik Winquist.”

Who is involved in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes?

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is written by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver, the latter of whom was also a writer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The film is produced by Patrick Aison, Joe Hartwick Jr., Jaffa, Silver, and Jason Reed.

The latest film in the Planet of the Apes series is set to star William H. Macy, Owen Teague, Freya Allen, Dichen Lachman, and Peter Macon, among others.
