Writer/director Chris Nash‘s novel ambient slasher In a Violent Nature has been released on VOD platforms.
It will also hit streaming service Shudder later in 2024.
In a Violent Nature stalks its way home
When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year-old crime, his body is resurrected, and he becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back – along with anyone in his way.
The film stars Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan, Lea Rose Sebastianis, Sam Roulston, Alexander Oliver, and Lauren Taylor.
Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thrillers, and the supernatural, gave the bewitching third-person slasher its World Premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. It garnered plenty of praise since its May 31, 2024 theatrical release and even found a fan in Stephen King.
In my review of the movie, I wrote that In a Violent Nature is ”a largely successful experiment. There’s definitely something in what it’s trying to do; it’s just a touch raw in this particular form.”
