It Follows 2, also known as They Follow, has a production window.
Maika Monroe has confirmed that the upcoming sequel to It Follows will begin filming in early 2025.
Speaking with IndieWire, Monroe said, “I just know that David wouldn’t do a sequel if it wasn’t going to be incredible, and the script is so f***ing good. I’m obsessed. I’m just so excited to step into playing Jay again and just where you find her, it’s going to be great.”
She also said that she and director David Robert Mitchell are “piecing together everything that happened in the 10 years between these films,” suggesting that They Follow may take place approximately a decade after the events of It Follows.
“I think it’s going to be very, very fun,” Monroe noted.
After premiering at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014, It Follows was released in United States theaters in March 2015. The film made approximately $23.3 million at the global box office off an estimated $1.3 million budget.
“After a strange sexual encounter, a teenager finds herself haunted by nightmarish visions and the inescapable sense that something is after her,” the synopsis for the movie reads.
