The Batman Part II Update Given by Andy Serkis

Andy Serkis has offered up a The Batman Part II update, revealing when he believes filming on the highly anticipated project is set to start.

Serkis — who played Bruce Wayne’s butler and parental figure Alfred Pennyworth in the original film — says he hasn’t heard much about the project at all other than when they plan to begin filming.

What is The Batman Part II update?

“Basically, I know nothing about the movie other than that I’ve just found out that we’re probably likely to be starting filming early next year,” Serkis told Popverse. “Therefore, if you do the math, it’ll be a year and a half after that.”

The actor went on note that director Matt Reeves is hard at work on the script, and that he believes entirely in the brilliance of the filmmaker he is.

“I know that Matt [Reeves] is working really hard on the script. Matt Reeves being Matt Reeves, the extraordinary filmmaker that he is, I can only assume that it’s going to be another brilliant script, because I thought what he did with that first film was pretty amazing. I loved working with Rob Pattinson, and I really look forward to playing Alfred once more.”

Little is known about the plot of The Batman Part II so far, though Robert Pattinson is set to return as the titular Dark Knight. The first film did tease the Joker and leave the Riddler alive at Arkham, so one or both of these iconic antagonists could make a return. Just last month, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn debunked a rumor about who the sequel’s villains could be, as well as the possible introduction of Dick Grayson/Robin.

The first film, The Batman, stars Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as GCPD’s James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Ferrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin.
