Who else stars in Red One with Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans?

In addition to Johnson and Evans, Red One will see J.K. Simmons play Santa Claus. The cast of the movie also includes Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Nick Kroll, Kristofer Hivju, Wesley Kimmel, and Jenna Kanell. Bonnie Hunt, meanwhile, is playing Mrs. Claus.

Red One is directed by Jake Kasdan, who previously worked with Johnson on 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and the 2019 sequel Jumanji: The Next Level. Kasdan has also directed 1998’s Zero Effect, 2002’s Orange County, 2006’s The TV Set, 2007’s Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, 2011’s Bad Teacher, and 2014’s Sex Tape.

The script for Red One was written by Chris Morgan, based on an original story by Hiram Garcia.

Johnson, who is playing a character named Callum Drift in the movie, teased the Red One trailer in an X post yesterday, June 24, 2024. He wrote, “MISSING: SANTA CLAUS [CODE NAME: RED ONE] All points alert to everyone around the world— be on the lookout for this man. Last seen at the North Pole. If you have any information, please reach out to the E.L.F. North Pole Command Center via the number on the bottom of this official RED ONE poster. WE NEED YOUR HELP. Christmas depends on it. And Nick, buddy, if you’re reading this— I will find you.”

Red One was originally scheduled to be released on Prime Video in 2023; however, it was delayed because of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike. It will now hit United States theaters on November 15, 2024.
