Napoleon Dynamite’s Jon Heder Has an Idea for a Potential Sequel

Napoleon Dynamite’s Jon Heder has an idea for a potential sequel.

Speaking with E! News, Heder commented on what Napoleon Dynamite, the titular character of the 2004 movie, would be up to in the present day.

“I don’t think it’s looking pretty for Napoleon,” Heder said. “I think Napoleon’s life is more drama than comedy. I think he is battling some health issues and has thinning hair.”

Regarding his relationship with Deb (Tina Majorino), Heder said he doesn’t think that she and Napoleon will make it in the long run; however, he also teased that their dynamic could potentially lead to a sequel.

“He’s still trying to win [Deb] back. So maybe there’s an adventure there,” Heder commented.

Heder also said that his children are “very aware” of the Napoleon Dynamite fandom. “My daughter actually enjoys it,” he said. “She’s 7. She’s like, ‘Oh, can we watch clips from the movie?'”

Who else starred in Napoleon Dynamite?

Directed and co-written by Jared Hess, Napoleon Dynamite also starred Efren Ramirez as Pedro Sánchez, Aaron Ruell as Kip Dynamite, Jon Gries as Uncle Rico, Haylie Duff as Summer Wheatley, Emily Kennard as Trisha Stevens, Shondrella Avery as LaFawnduh Lucas, Sandy Martin as Grandma Carlinda Dynamite, and Diedrich Bader as Rex.

“In small-town Preston, Idaho, awkward teen Napoleon Dynamite (Jon Heder) has trouble fitting in. After his grandmother is injured in an accident, his life is made even worse when his strangely nostalgic uncle, Rico (Jon Gries), shows up to keep an eye on him. With no safe haven at home or at school, Napoleon befriends the new kid, Pedro (Efren Ramirez), a morose Hispanic boy who speaks little English. Together the two launch a campaign to run for class president.”

Released in June 2004, Napoleon Dynamite made approximately $46.1 million at the global box office off an estimated $400,000 budget. The film is currently streaming on Hulu.
