Revelations: Train to Busan and Parasyte Filmmaker Teams With Alfonso Cuarón for Netflix Thriller

Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho is teaming with Roma filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón for Revelations. The thriller movie will be adapted for Netflix from Sang-ho’s popular Korean webcomic.

Cuarón is set to executive produce and work as a consultant on the project. Furthermore, the project sees Sang-ho reunite with his Hellbound writer and webcomic collaborator, Choi Gyu-seok.

Revelations story details for webcomic adaptation

Revelations’ story concerns a missing persons case and follows a pastor and a detective. Each is driven by their own differing beliefs. When a man named Yang-rae visits pastor Min-chan’s (Ryu Jun-yeol) provincial town church, Min-chan receives a divine revelation identifying him as the culprit who abducted his son. So, he sets out in the pursuit of justice. As his abiding faith and the cruel truths of reality intersect, Min-chan becomes consumed by his quest for retribution. At the same time, detective Yeon-hee (Shin Hyun-been) — who’s constantly haunted by visions of her sister, also finds herself on Yang-rae’s trail.

“Alfonso Cuarón, known for masterpieces like Children of Men and Gravity, has greatly influenced my work as a director,” said Sang-ho in a statement. “I am thrilled at this opportunity to collaborate with him on shaping Revelations, and I have high expectations for our partnership.”

Both Sang-ho and Cuarón have a successful history with Netflix. Cuarón teamed with the streaming service for his award-winning drama Roma. Sang-ho was behind the hit show Hellbound and the recent live-action adaption of Parasyte: The Grey.
