Keith Gill, the inspiration behind 2023’s Dumb Money, has returned to YouTube.
According to Reuters, Gill — also known as “Roaring Kitty” on YouTube and “DeepF—ingValue” on Reddit — has been largely absent from social media for the past three years following his involvement in the GameStop short squeeze.
Gill recently began posting on Reddit again and, now, has begun streaming on YouTube to discuss the latest developments in GameStop’s stock.

In September 2023, Sony Pictures released Dumb Money in United States theaters. Paul Dano plays Gill in the film, which chronicles the GameStop short squeeze of 2021.
“Dumb Money is the ultimate David vs. Goliath tale, based on the insane true story of everyday people who flipped the script on Wall Street and got rich by turning GameStop (yes, the mall videogame store) into the world’s hottest company,” the synopsis for the movie reads. “In the middle of everything is regular guy Keith Gill, who starts it all by sinking his life savings into the stock and posting about it. When his social posts start blowing up, so does his life and the lives of everyone following him. As a stock tip becomes a movement, everyone gets rich – until the billionaires fight back, and both sides find their worlds turned upside down.”
Along with Dano, Dumb Money stars Pete Davidson as Kevin Gill, Vincent D’Onofrio as Steve Cohen, America Ferrera as Jenny, Nick Offerman as Ken Griffin, Myha’la Herrold as Riri, Seth Rogen as Gabe Plotkin, Sebastian Stan as Vlad Tenev, Shailene Woodley as Caroline Gill, Clancy Brown as Steven Gill, and Kate Burton as Elaine Gill.
The film was directed by Craig Gillespie. It made approximately $20.7 million at the global box office off an estimated $30 million budget.
Dumb Money is currently streaming on Netflix.
