Nearly a week after the theatrical debut of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Marvel vet Chris Hemsworth has found his next potential high-profile project in the form of Paramount Pictures’ long-awaited Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover movie.
According to Deadline, Hemsworth is currently in negotiations for the leading role in the untitled Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover movie. Besides Hemsworth, there is still no director, writer and other cast members attached to it yet. Further details about the project’s plot and characters remained under wraps.
The project was actually first teased at the end of last year’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, where Anthony Ramos’ Noah Diaz gets invited to join the G.I. Joe. The untitled crossover will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg, with Lorenzo di Bonaventur, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto, and Don Murphy producing.
Chris Hemsworth Voices Optimus Prime
Should the Hemsworth’s deal for the Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover movie pushes through, this would mark his second Transformers movie. At the moment, he’s also leading the upcoming animated prequel movie Transformers One, where he lends his voice to a younger version of Peter Cullen’s Optimus Prime. The film will be arriving in theaters on September 20, 2024.
“It centers around the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever,” reads the synopsis.
Transformers One is directed by Josh Cooley from a screenplay written by Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, Steve Desmond, and Michael Sherman. The action-packed animated movie will also star Scarlett Johansson, Brian Tyree Henry, Keegan-Michael Key, Jon Hamm, and Laurence Fishburne.
