White Bird Final Trailer Previews Wonder Sequel Movie

Lionsgate has released the final trailer for its coming-of-age period drama White Bird, set to hit theaters on October 24, 2024. The upcoming feature serves as both the prequel and sequel to the 2017 movie Wonder, based on R.J. Palacio’s book White Bird: A Wonder Story.

A book that sparked a movement to always “choose kind,” White Bird is billed as “an uplifting movie about how one act of kindness can live on forever.” It tells the story of a woman who chose to lead a courageous life by choosing kindness in the face of an unkind world.

White Bird extends the story of the 2017 Jacob Tremblay-led family drama, a film that chronicled the story of a 10-year-old boy with a rare facial deformity. This time, though, instead of focusing on the person being bullied, White Bird will center on the character who bullied Wonder’s Auggie Pullman — and his grandmother’s own story of “kindness.”

Per the official synopsis, White Bird follows “Julian, who has struggled to belong ever since he was expelled from his former school for his treatment of Auggie Pullman. To transform his life, Julian’s grandmother finally reveals to Julian her own story of courage — during her youth in Nazi-occupied France, a boy shelters her from mortal danger. They find first love in a stunning, magical world of their own creation, while the boy’s mother risks everything to keep her safe.”
