The Robots Go Crazy: Radio Silence’s New Movie Starring Andy Samberg Acquired by Amazon

Amazon MGM Studios has acquired the rights to The Robots Go Crazy, a new movie directed by Radio Silence that stars Andy Samberg.

Per Deadline, Samberg is starring in The Robots Go Crazy, which is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The movie does not yet have an official release date.

Plot details for The Robots Go Crazy remain under wraps at this time, though Deadline describes the movie as “an action comedy.”

Samberg, Bettinelli-Olpin, and Gillett produce The Robots Go Crazy alongside Ali Bell, Chad Villella, Jon Silk, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone. The screenplay comes from Andrew Lanham, who also serves as an executive producer.

Additional casting has not yet been announced.

What other movies has Radio Silence made?

Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett are known for directing 2014’s Devil’s Due, 2019’s Ready or Not, 2022’s Scream, and 2023’s Scream VI.

Their most recent film was Universal Pictures’ Abigail, which was released in United States theaters in April 2024 and stars Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Alisha Weir, Kathryn Newton, Kevin Durand, Angus Cloud, Will Catlett, Giancarlo Esposito, and Matthew Goode.

“A group of would-be criminals kidnaps the 12-year-old daughter of a powerful underworld figure,” the synopsis for Abagail reads. “Holding her for ransom in an isolated mansion, their plan starts to unravel when they discover their young captive is actually a bloodthirsty vampire.”

Samberg, meanwhile, is a member of the Lonely Island comedy trio band alongside Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone. He’s starred in movies such as 2007’s Hot Rod, 2012’s Celeste and Jesse Forever, 2016’s Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, 2020’s Palm Springs, and more.

He recently voiced Ben Reilly/Scarlet Spider in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and will next be seen in Lee, a biographical drama directed by Ellen Kuras that also stars Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, and Andrea Riseborough.
