What do we know about Return to Silent Hill?

Return to Silent Hill was announced in October 2022. The film will be directed by Christophe Gans, who directed the 2006 Silent Hill movie starring Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, and Laurie Holden.

The film will star Jeremy Irvine as James Sunderland and Hannah Emily Anderson as Mary.

The plot, according to the official logline, begins “when a mysterious letter from [Mary] calls [James] back to Silent Hill, he finds a once-recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil. While James desperately searches for Mary, he encounters terrifying creatures and begins to unravel the mystery of what happened to the town. But as he descends deeper into the darkness the secrets he uncovers lead to a horrifying truth, and James finds himself struggling to hold on long enough to save his one true love.”

Return to Silent Hill will be the third entry in the Silent Hill film franchise. Following 2006’s Silent Hill, Silent Hill: Revelation, which was directed by M. J. Bassett, was released in 2012.

“Return to Silent Hill is a mythological love story about someone so deeply in love, they’re willing to go to hell to save someone,” Gans previously told Deadline. “I’m delighted to have the wonderful talents of both Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson take us on this journey into a psychological horror world that I hope will both satisfy and surprise fans of Silent Hill.”

Return to Silent Hill does not have an official United States release date at this time.
