Per Variety, A24 has officially set the Civil War digital release date for Alex Garland’s latest dystopian thriller starring Oscar nominee Kirsten Dunst as a photojournalist documenting the current state of the nation divided into different regional factions. This comes after over a month since the movie had made its theatrical debut.

Civil War will be available to rent or purchase on digital platforms starting next week on Friday, May 24. During its theatrical run, the film has already earned a gross of over $100 million at the global box office against a reported budget of $50 million. It also currently holds a Certified Fresh Rating of 81% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 350 reviews.
“In the near future, a team of journalists travel across the United States during a rapidly escalating civil war that has engulfed the entire nation, struggling to survive during a near-future where the government has become a dystopian dictatorship and partisan extremist militias regularly commit political violence,” reads the synopsis.
Civil War was written and directed by Ex Machina filmmaker Alex Garland. The film also stars Wagner Moura, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Cailee Spaeny, Jesse Plemons, Nick Offerman, Karl Glusman, Sonoya Mizuno, and Jonica T. Gibbs. It is produced by Gregory Goodman, Andrew Macdonald, and Allon Reich.
