Taylor Lautner, Sarah Hyland, Andie MacDowell, and Brenton Thwaites have all been cast in a new romantic comedy titled The Token Groomsman.
Per Deadline, Lautner, Hyland, MacDowell, and Thwaites have all been cast in The Token Groomsman, which is headed to the Cannes Film Market later this month.
What is The Token Groomsman about?
The film, according to Deadline, “career-focused Scott (Lautner) who has hit rock bottom at work when he finds himself invited to be a groomsman at an elite, luxury, destination wedding. The only problem is he doesn’t remember who the groom is! Enticed by the rich and powerful, and hoping to make some new business connections, Scott jets off to Italy planning to blend in and quickly cash out. But when sparks unexpectedly fly with the groom’s sister Mia (Hyland), Scott has to decide between “closing the deal” for money, or for love.”
The Token Groomsman will be directed by Natalie Simpkins, who previously made 2018’s I’ve Been Thinking.
Simpkins, John C. Hall, and Sohale Andrus Mortazavi wrote the screenplay. Pam Renall and Hall will produce the movie alongside Simpkins. David Spiegelman will serve as an executive producer.
Lautner is best known for playing Jacob Black in The Twilight Saga film series, while Hyland is known for playing Haley Dunphy in ABC’s Modern Family. Hyland also hosted two seasons of CBS’ Love Island USA.
MacDowell, meanwhile, is known for appearing in 1989’s Sex, Lies, and Videotape, 1991’s Hudson Hawk, 1993’s Groundhog Day, 1994’s Four Weddings and a Funeral, 1996’s Multiplicity, and 1999’s Muppets from Space, among many other movies.
Thwaites played Dick Grayson/Nightwing on DC’s Titans series, which concluded in 2023. He also portrayed Henry Turner in the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, 2017’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
