Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling will play lovers in a new kinky romance movie called Pillion.
Per Deadline, Skarsgård and Melling have both been tapped to star in Pillion, which is headed to the Cannes Film Market later this month. The movie is being directed by first-time feature director Harry Lighton.
What is Pillion about?
“Pillion follows Colin (Melling), a weedy wallflower letting life pass him by,” the official synopsis reads. “That is until Ray (Skarsgård), the impossibly handsome leader of a motorbike club, takes him on as his submissive. Ray uproots Colin from his dreary suburban life, introducing him to a community of kinky, queer bikers and taking all sorts of virginities along the way. But as Colin steps deeper into Ray’s world of rules and mysteries, he begins to question whether the life of a 24/7 submissive is for him. Has he found his calling, or simply swapped one form of suffocation for another?”
Based on Adam Mars-Jones’ 2005 novel Box Hill: A Story of Low Self-esteem, Pillion is produced by Emma Norton, Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, and Lee Groombridge. Eva Yates, Claire Binns, Pim Hermeling, and Skarsgård serve as executive producers.
Skarsgård is known for starring in 2012’s Battleship, 2015’s The Diary of a Teenage Girl, 2016’s The Legend of Tarzan, 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, 2022’s The Northman, and 2023’s Infinity Pool, while he also played Eric Northman in True Blood, Perry Wright in Big Little Lies, and Lukas Matsson in Succession.
Melling, meanwhile, is best known for playing Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter franchise. He’s also appeared in movies such as 2018’s The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, 2020’s The Old Guard, 2021’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, and 2022’s The Pale Blue Eye, while he additionally starred as Harry Beltik in The Queen’s Gambit.
