Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Early Reactions Call It ‘Epic,’ ‘Really F—ing Good’

The early reactions for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga are praising George Miller’s prequel movie as “epic” and “really f—ing good.”

The social media embargo for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga broke on the evening of May 6, 2024. Those lucky enough to see an advanced screening of the movie took to social media to praise the highly anticipated Mad Max movie, which releases nationwide later this month.

IndieWire’s David Ehrlich said, “Brings me great joy to report that Furiosa is really, *really* f—ing good. Operates in an extremely different gear than Fury Road (in ways that I suspect will frustrate some people), but also manages to make that movie even richer while carving its own legend in the wasteland.”

“Furiosa is not Fury Road and that’s ok,” said Josh Horotwiz of the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “It’s not trying to be. What it is is something uniquely gnarly and yes, epic. I can’t wait to see it again and again and really dig in. All hail George Miller. As for performances, Anya and Hemsworth are fantastic. Tom Burke impresses.”

Other social media reactions called it “phenomenal,” “a visceral triumph,” “ferocious,” and “myth making at its finest.”

What is Furiosa about?

“As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus,” the film’s synopsis reads. “Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe.  While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”

With the movie being set approximately 15 to 20 years before the events of 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is directed and co-written by Miller and stars Taylor-Joy, Hemsworth, Burke, and Lachy Hulme.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga releases in United States theaters on May 24, 2024.
