Actor Chris Hemsworth has revealed that one of his children is named after a beloved character that Brad Pitt played in the past. Hemsworth recently confirmed that his son, Tristan, is named after a character from Pitt’s 1994 film Legends of the Fall.

All three of Chris Hemsworth’s children have names with meaningful inspirations. Among the twin boys, Tristan is named after Brad Pitt’s tortured rancher character from Legends of the Fall, Tristan Ludlow.
In an interview with Vanity Fair’s Karen Valby, Chris Hemsworth talked about the upcoming movie Furiosa, his disappointment with Thor: Love and Thunder, and the story behind Tristan’s name.
He revealed how he and his wife, Elsa Pataky, selected the name while rewatching Legends of the Fall when Pataky was pregnant with the twins. Speaking about Pitt’s character, he said:
“There’s never been a more beautiful man onscreen.”
Moreover, he told Pataky:
“Is this not the coolest character in the world? I think one of our kids needs to be named Tristan.”
On the other hand, the second twin, Sasha has been reportedly named after a stuntman friend of the Hemsworth family.
As per Metro, Chris Hemsworth also revealed that his first child, India Rose, was named after the south-Asian country in a past interview with news agency IANS. While promoting Men in Black: International in 2019, he told the outlet:
“My wife spent a lot of time in India and that was where the name originally came from.”
Upcoming movies starring Chris Hemsworth
Hemsworth is expected to return in a potential fifth Thor installment along with the upcoming two Avengers movies. Additionally, in 2024, he is set to star in two other films.
The first will be Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga where he plays the antagonist, Dr. Dementus. Following that is the animated film Transformers One. In this movie, Hemsworth will voice a younger version of Optimus Prime named Orion Pax.
