The American Society of Magical Negroes Gets Blu-ray & Peacock Release Dates

Focus Features‘ newest fantasy comedy movie, The American Society of Magical Negroes, has finally received its official Peacock, digital, Blu-ray, and DVD release dates. This comes after over a month since the Justice Smith-led movie had made its theatrical debut.

When is The American Society of Magical Negroes Peacock, digital, Blu-ray and DVD release dates?

The American Society of Magical Negroes will officially start streaming on May 3, exclusively on Peacock. Simultaneously, an all-new Collector’s Edition of the film will also be available to rent or buy on digital platforms. It will then be released on Blu-ray and DVD on May 14 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

Both digital and physical releases of the Collector’s Edition will include bonus features listed below:

  • Secret Society Members – Cast converse about their roles and discuss the journey their characters took throughout the film.
  • Crafting a Magical Society – Step through the secret entrance and see what goes into creating a magical society. Hear from cast and crew on the production design, wardrobe, and cinematography involved in crafting the fantastical world.
  • Speaking Your Truth – the film might blend humor with romance, but the topic of race is at the forefront of the film. Filmmakers and cast share the importance of the narrative and the impact telling this story had on them personally.
  • Feature Commentary with director/ writer/ producer Kobi Libii.

“The film is a fresh, satirical comedy about a young man, Aren, who is recruited into a secret society of magical Black people who dedicate their lives to a cause of utmost importance: making white people’s lives easier,” reads the synopsis.

The American Society of Magical Negroes was written and directed by Kobi Libii. The film also stars Justice Smith, David Alan Grier, An-Li Bogan, Drew Tarver, Michaela Watkins, Rupert Friend, and Nicole Byer. It was produced by Libii, Julia Lebedev, Eddie Vaisman, and Angel Lopez, with Mike Upton, Oren Moverman, and Leonid Lebedev executive producing.
