The first-look image for Steve Barnett’s feature directorial debut has been unveiled, showing Chase Stokes and Lana Condor as the lead stars for the upcoming military action thriller. Titled Valiant One, the film is scheduled for theatrical release on January 24, 2025.
Per Deadline’s report, Briarcliff Entertainment has acquired domestic rights to the upcoming feature. According to the synopsis, the film will take place after “a U.S. army helicopter crashes deep within North Korean territory. Now, a team of non-combat tech specialists, led by Captain Edward Brockman (Stokes), must navigate the hostile terrain and fend off North Korean forces as they desperately race to escort a civilian tech specialist across the treacherous Demilitarized Zone.”
Stokes, who starred in Dr. Bird’s Advice for Sad Poets as Martin, is best known for his John B. Routledge role in Outer Banks. On the other hand, Condor — whose television credits include Deadly Class, Rilakkuma and Kaoru, and Boo, Bitch — has starred in X-Men: Apocalypse as Jubilee, Alita: Battle Angel as Koyomi, Moonshot as Sophie Tsukino, and the three To All the Boys installments as Lara Jean.

Apart from directing, Barnett also co-wrote the feature alongside Eric Tipton. A production from Monarch Media, the film’s producers are Bernie Goldmann and Alan Powell, with Vicky Patel executive producing. Only Murders in the Building’s Desmin Borges and The Grey Man’s Callan Mulvey also star.
Speaking about the film’s inception, the director said in a statement (via Deadline): “My good friend, a Navy SEAL, recounted his harrowing helicopter incident over the DMZ and I was struck by a stark reality at the time: there existed only two nations, North Korea and China, where the US couldn’t intervene to rescue our troops. What a great set up for a film.”
