Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first trailer for Trap, the latest thriller from M. Night Shyamalan.
Shared by Warner Bros. Pictures, the first trailer for Trap previews a twisty new thriller starring Josh Hartnett. The plot revolves around a father (Hartnett) taking his daughter to a pop concert; however, when he steps away to use the bathroom, he realizes the whole event is secretly a ploy to catch a dangerous serial killer.
The trailer also seems to reveal that Hartnett’s character may be the killer in question, as he appears to be holding someone hostage against their will.

Who else stars in M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap?
Along with Hartnett (Oppenheimer, 30 Days of Night), Trap stars Ariel Donoghue, Saleka Shyamalan, Hayley Mills, and Allison Pill.
“A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event,” the official synopsis for the movie reads.
Shyamalan wrote the script for Trap and produced the movie alongside Ashwin Rajan and Marc Bienstock. Steven Schneider serves as an executive producer.
Per Variety, Shyamalan spoke about wanting to tell a story “from the vantage point of an unexpected person” during a Los Angeles event called The Summer of Shyamalan. “It kind of led more and more to this dark humor angle that Servant has and The Visit and Split had,” he said.
Speaking further about Hartnett’s casting, Shyamalan said, “What I’m looking for is someone that’s willing to just let go completely, give themselves over like a play to the movie and leap, leap, leap — don’t protect yourself. That beautiful electricity that requires the right actor at the right time in their life. And that’s where Josh was when I met him.”
Trap releases in United States theaters on August 9, 2024, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
