During a recent interview with Collider, Golden Globe winner Idris Elba expressed his excitement for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, promising diehard fans of the original Sega video game series lots of Easter Eggs in the upcoming third installment.
“I can tell you that it’s super exciting. I can tell you that it really does get deeper into the universe of Sonic,” Elba said. “I think 3’s probably the one for all the real diehard Sonic fans. They’re gonna get all of those Easter eggs in it. Jim [Carrey] is incredible, man. What a performance. It’s so great to work against, even though I’m never there with him, but I get to hear his voice. Bomb.”
Besides returning to Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Elba will also be reprising the fan-favorite Echidna warrior in the Paramount+ spin-off series Knuckles. The 6-episode series will debut on April 26 exclusively on Paramount+.
