IFC Films’ indie horror hit Late Night with the Devil has continued on its successful box office run ahead of its Shudder debut this Friday.
Late Night With the Devil Possesses Another Accolade
Its fourth weekend at the box office saw it take in $440, 000, which takes its worldwide total over the $10 million mark, which is impressive for a movie of its size going up against more prominent horror movies such as Sydney Sweeney’s Immaculate, Blumhouse’s Imaginary, and Arkasha Stevenson’s The First Omen.
The film, written, directed, and edited by Colin and Cameron Cairnes and starring David Dastmalchian, sees a supernatural stunt to improve ratings on a ’70s talk show by its troubled host go horribly wrong.
In ComingSoon’s review of the movie, I awarded it an 8/10 score and wrote, ”Late Night With the Devil slots into that sweet spot of feeling like a comfy ghost house perfect for yearly Halloween watching, but also has enough substance to make it more than a seasonal novelty.”
The movie’s success has come with a sour taste, as it was revealed the directors had experimented with AI art for some of the brief interstitials featured in the film, but did clarify they had further edited them. It’s a point of contention for many however, possibly hurting what could have been an even more successful box office run.
Late Night With the Devil will begin streaming on Shudder on April 19, 2024.
