Hong Kong actor and stuntman Jackie Chan has revolutionized the action film genre by utilizing his acrobatic slapstick fighting techniques. On April 7, he just turned 70. After a photo showed the Rush Hour actor gray-haired, Chan assures his fans, “Don’t worry!” about any health concerns.
Fans were worried for Chan when an X post revealed the Shanghai Noon actor’s supposed new aging look. When attending a recent event, we saw a gray-haired Chan on stage wearing glasses and clutching papers. Social media users were speculating that the 70-year-old actor’s age was battling old age.
You can rest assured that there’s a perfectly logical explanation for Jackie Chan’s recent look. He took to Instagram to ease the worries of his fans by letting them know he’s, in fact, aging gracefully.
“Not so long ago, a lot of friends saw some recent photos of me on the internet, and they were all concerned about my health,” said Chan. “I want to take this opportunity to let everyone know, don’t worry! It’s just a character appearance for my latest movie. The character requires me to have white hair, white beard, and look old.”
As the infamous martial artist said in his post he’s never been afraid to try something new, this involves more than just stuntwork. He’s simply trying out his new look to prepare for his upcoming movie.
Jackie Chan continued to say that for the past 62 years that he’s been in the film industry, he’s loved every moment of it. It’s a relief that despite the online speculation, the Rumble in the Bronx actor is doing just fine.
“All I can say is: I love making movies, and I love you all,”
What Movie is Jackie Chan Preparing For?
Jackie Chan didn’t mention what movie he’s donning an older look for. The only role the famed star is currently filming is a new Karate Kid movie reprising Mr. Han. You may remember his character in the 2010 remake where he trains Jaden Smith‘s Dre Parker for a kung fu tournament. Chan will be co-starring with Ralph Macchio reprising the franchise’s famed role of Daniel LaRusso.
What we know about the plot of Karate Kid so far is a Chinese teen moves to the East Coast and studies martial arts. So, maybe that means we’ll see the teachings of these two masters come together to train a young kid.
So, it appears that Jackie Chan’s aged look is all in preparation for his upcoming movie. At 70, the talented actor seems to be as young as he feels. As he said in his Instagram post, “My big brother, Sammo Hung once said: ‘Being able to grow old is a fortunate thing.’ Especially for us stunt people, we don’t know how lucky we are to be able to grow old.”
