Warner Bros. has officially changed the Trap release date for M. Night Shyamalan’s newest horror thriller movie.
What’s the new Trap release date?
Originally scheduled for an August 2, 2024 release, the film has been slightly pushed back for a week, and will now arrive in theaters on August 9, 2024.
The new Trap release date will pit the film directly against Neon’s Cuckoo and Lionsgate’s Borderlands movies. It will also debut in the same month as other high-profile movies like Harold and the Purple Crayon, Alien: Romulus, Blink Twice, and Kraven the Hunter.
“In the film, a father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event,” reads the synopsis.
Trap is directed and produced by M. Night Shyamalan through his Blinding Edge Pictures banner as part of his new first-look deal with Warner Bros. This serves as the follow-up project to his recently released horror film Knock at the Cabin, which earned a worldwide gross of over $50 million at the box office.
The film will be led by Josh Hartnett and Shyamalan’s eldest daughter Saleka Shyamalan, who’s also known as an R&B singer. At the moment, Saleka isn’t the only one set to enter the film industry this year, as her younger sister, Ishana Night Shyamalan, will be making her feature directorial debut with the upcoming supernatural horror film The Watchers, which will hit theaters on June 14.
