Box Office Results: Monkey Man and The First Omen Can’t Stop Godzilla x Kong

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire dipped 63% in its second weekend but still held off newcomers Monkey Man and The First Omen to remain atop the domestic box office. The ginormous creature feature pulled in $30 million over its sophomore frame to raise its cume to $133M, while the R-rated Monkey Man fought its way to a so-so $10.5M, and The First Omen conjured a weak $8M per Deadline.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire landed in third place with $9M but has only managed $88.8M after three weeks.

Worldwide, Godzilla X Kong sailed past $361M while Kung Fu Panda 4 hit the $400M mark and Dune: Part Two inched closer to $700M.

This week sees the release of Alex Garland’s Civil War, which is projected to open with anywhere from $18-24M, marking another big win for A24.
