With production set to begin next month on Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s 28 Years Later, it looks to have found one of its stars.
Jodie Comer at the End of the World
Daniel Richtman is reporting that Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer is in talks to star in the belated follow-up to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. It’s going to be the first in a trilogy of movies for Sony and has a $60 million budget.
There’s rumors of original star Cillian Murphy reprising his role from 28 Days Later, but that’s yet to be confirmed. He did tease his involvement in an interview recently, saying,
“It’s for them to speak about, I suppose, but I think it’s been brewing for a while,” Murphy said. “The first movie was so important for me, as an actor. I love working with those guys. Alex has an idea.”
He added, “And Danny directing is just huge. Watch this space.”
Murphy is serving as an executive producer on the movie. Plot details, beyond those the title implies, are thin on the ground.
Comer’s casting and that of other cast members should be made official soon, given production is set to begin in May.
Jodie Comer is known for roles in Free Guy, The Last Duel, Help, and The Bikeriders. She’s also recently appeared in the horror game Alone in the Dark alongside David Harbour.
