A new Poolman trailer is out now, previewing Chris Pine‘s upcoming directorial debut in the film which is set to premiere next month.
The newest trailer shows off more of the mystery that Pine’s character Darren Barrenman finds himself exploring. Alongside Pine, Poolman also stares Annette Bening, Danny DeVito, Jennifer Jason Leigh, DeWanda Wise, Stephen Tobolowsky, Clancy Brown, John Ortiz and Ray Wise. The project is directed by Pine, from a script co-written by Pine and Ian Gotler.

What is Poolman about?
“Getting to make Poolman was a dream,” said Pine in a statement. “The artists with whom I collaborated, both in front of and behind the camera, were even dreamier, and shooting in my hometown (On film! Go Kodak!) was the dreamiest. It centers on a pool man named Darren Barrenman, an earnest and concerned, albeit emotionally stunted, citizen who, in his quest to solve a crime, ends up solving the mystery of who he is alongside a wild and misfit group of friends. “Poolman tells the story of Darren Barrenman (Chris Pine), a native Los Angeleno who spends his days looking after the pool of the Tahitian Tiki apartment block and fighting to make his hometown a better place to live,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “When he is tasked by a femme fatale to uncover the truth behind a shady business deal, Darren enlists the help of his friends to take on a corrupt politician and a greedy land developer. His investigation reveals a hidden truth about his beloved city and himself.”
