Dan Stevens isn’t willing to confirm or deny whether a sequel to 2014’s The Guest is in the works.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire star Dan Stevens was asked if he could shed any light regarding a potential sequel to The Guest.
“Well, in some ways, we tried to appease the fans by releasing a soundtrack to The Guest II, before a movie is even in existence,” he said. “It’s a really awesome album that’s out there and available.”
Stevens continued, “But I don’t know is the real answer. That really is a question that’s much more for Adam [Wingard] and Simon [Barrett] than for myself. I would always leap at the chance to work with either of them. There are so many other projects that we are talking about collaborating on as well, and The Guest II might be among them, but I could neither confirm nor deny at this stage.”
Speaking further on his character in The Guest, Stevens said, “David was a great, great character, and I was very, very lucky to get to work on that with Adam. But Trapper [his Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire character] is an equally great character that might have some more mileage in him, and I’d love to see further life in him, so we’ll see. At the very least, I hope I get to work with Adam and Simon again on something.”
What is The Guest about?
Directed by Wingard and written by Barrett, The Guest also starred Maika Monroe, Brenda Meyer, Sheila Kelley, and Lance Reddick. “A soldier (Stevens) introduces himself to the Peterson family, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in action,” the synopsis for the film reads. “After the young man is welcomed into their home, a series of accidental deaths seem to be connected to his presence.”
Despite the fact that the movie had never been made, Lakeshore Records released a soundtrack album for The Guest 2 in April 2022.
The Guest is currently available to rent on digital streaming services such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and more.
