Sony Pictures Animation has set the release date for the short film The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story.
Variety has reported that the animated short will make its online debut on the Sony Pictures Animation YouTube account on Wednesday, March 27 at 6:00 a.m. PT. The outlet notes that the release is in collaboration with the Kevin Love Fund as part of its “mental health-focused lesson plan.” The short focuses on Miles Morales as he faces difficulties in balancing his personal life with being Spider-Man, leading to a panic attack.
“Miles represents so many of us doing the best we can in our day-to-day lives,” director Jarelle Dampier stated. “We don’t often realize all that we’ve been through until our own body forces us to become aware of its experience. My intention is that The Spider Within can motivate deeper conversations amongst friends and family about their own mental health journeys — and I hope it feels like a love letter to those who adore Miles Morales.”
