The release date for Mercy has been revealed. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Timur Bekmambetov’s sci-fi thriller is heading to theaters next summer as Amazon MGM Studios will release Mercy nationwide on August 15, 2025. The film is set to begin shooting this spring.
Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson are set to star in Mercy. Pratt will play a detective in the near future accused of a violent crime who fights to prove his innocence in a society where “capital crime is on the rise.”
Pratt is coming off an impressive 2023 at the box office thanks to The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In 2024, Pratt is set to headline the animated comedy Garfield and Netflix’s The Electric State.
Ferguson is currently starring in Dune: Part Two, now available in theaters
Who is Involved In Mercy?
Bekmambetov (Ben-Hur, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) will direct from a screenplay by Marco van Belle. Mercy marks a reunion for Bekmambetov and Pratt, who collaborated on 2008’s Wanted, which also starred James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, and Angelina Jolie.
Charles Roven, one of the Oscar-winning producers of Oppenheimer, will produce Mercy with Atlas Entertainment SVP Robert Amidon. Additional producers include Majd Nassif and Bekmambetov, who will produce under his BEL banner.
