Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alan Ritchson are set to star in the upcoming holiday family comedy The Man With The Bag, according to Deadline.
The film comes from Amazon MGM Studios, and will be Schwarzenegger’s first starring role in a movie since his appearances in 2019’s Kung Fury 2 and Terminator: Dark Fate.
The movie will be directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray), and will come from a screenplay written by Allan Rice. The film will follow the story of Santa Claus, who must grab someone from his naughty list to help him find his stolen bag of toys ahead of Christmas.
Schwarzenegger will play Santa, with Ritchson presumably set to play the thief. No other casting information is available as of now.
What is The Man With The Bag about?
“When Santa’s magic bag is stolen, he turns to his naughty list to find Vance, a former thief, to help him get it back,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Along with his daughter, Santa, and a group of misfit elves, Vance will have to pull off the greatest heist of his life to save Christmas.”
For Ritchson, this will continue his star turn throughout Hollywood. Despite having a long career in acting, Ritchson rose to fame following his starring role in the Prime Video series Reacher. The actor also appeared in 2023’s Fast X, and will next star in 2024’s Ordinary Angels and Guy Ritchie‘s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
