Production for the sixth installment of Final Destination, which will mark the horror franchise’s 25th anniversary, is now underway. In addition to the filming announcement, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema (via BloodyDisgusting) revealed that the next movie is called Final Destination: Bloodlines.
Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein will be directing the next installment from Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor’s script, with Craig Perry serving as one of the producers alongside Jon Watts, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Dianne McGunigle.
When is Final Destination: Bloodlines coming out?
While no release date has been set yet for Final Destination: Bloodlines, Perry suggested on social media that the film may hit theaters sometime in 2025 to mark the franchise’s 25th anniversary. The first installment — starring Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith, and Tony Todd — first graced cinemas back in 2000.
“After a long, hard slog through the pandemic and the strikes, Day One is finally in the can. 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first installment in the franchise. To honor the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release (in IMAX, no less) is a rare and wonderful thing,” Perry wrote.
The sixth Final Destination film, which was previously announced in 2019, was put on hold due to the pandemic. Perry also said that while the new title is akin to Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, it is the title they have had for three years and that they intend to keep it.
What to expect in the fresh Final Destination installment?
Though plot details have not been revealed yet, Bloodlines is expected to not stray too far away from the franchise’s usual formula, in which a group of friends try to escape their impending, horrifying demise.
