Umbrella Home Entertainment is releasing a Primer Collector’s Edition Blu-ray for the revered 2004 sci-fi thriller.
Two men fracture the seams of time in the dark sci-fi Primer, directed by Shane Carruth (Upstream Color). Made for $7000, this lo-fi monument to indie filmmaking is known to scramble, bend, and short-circuit the minds of those who see it. Coveted as a realistic vision of time travel, Umbrella has dissected it further with a new critical commentary and a new video essay.
By day, a small group of engineers work for a large corporation. By night, they conduct extracurricular experiments in their garage. While tweaking their latest project, they accidentally discover it has highly unexpected capabilities … ones that may enable them to do and gain anything they conceive.
Taking advantage of this opportunity is the first challenge they face. Dealing with the consequences could be their last.
The film stars Carruth, David Sullivan (Argo, Sharp Objects), Casey Gooden, Anand Upadhyaya, and Jay Butler (Raw Deal).
