Lionsgate is reportedly interested in setting up a new adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dead Zone with producer Roy Lee.

Lionsgate already has previous with the book, having produced the USA television series adaptation starring Anthony Michael Hall in partnership with Paramount Television.
Roy Lee is shopping the idea around, according to Jeff Sneider. But doesn’t yet have a writer or director attached to the project. That’s something that would likely need some kind of sign-off from King
The book was most famously adapted in 1983. Body horror master David Cronenberg directed, and saw Christopher Walken in the lead role. The story sees Johnny Smith, a teacher, awaken from a coma to discover he has the ability to see visions of people’s lives. Naturally, that leads him to discover some very disturbing futures.
Stephen King adaptations have been a hot commodity once more in recent years. Adaptations for the big screen and the small alike find fairly consistent success. Upcoming King adaptations include IT spinoff Welcome to Derry, Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck, an already completed, but bizarrely shelved Salem’s Lot movie, and a movie based on the fantastical Fairy Tale.
